Things I Use and Look at All the Time

as i was doing this exercise i noticed how many great ideas might have gone through our minds without even registering at all... i don't know if it is possible for any body to be making those connections every time they happen, but that's possible that would definitely be my goal that i will be working on for the next 5 years... becoming one of those people. that makes

Process Presentation "HPV awareness"

HPV awareness campaign was a senior project where researching a topic and forming connections wasn’t much of a problem anymore. The challenge that was faced in this project was coming up with a system that holds together well, the elements have to be different enough so the audience won’t get bored, and yet cohesive enough to hold together as a system.

Looking for a Direction

I’m not quite sure if that’s how the process goes about or if that was the way that I found comfortable enough, but the research and the design process were being developed in little chunks alternately over the projects time span. In the early phases of the project I was focused on understanding my topic fully so generating
ideas won’t be as hard anymore. After that the design process was started without giving up looking for more info to enrich the project. In the middle phase my personal struggle was finding the esthetics that works the best with my topic, and overcoming this issue was inspired by the readies process which is make as many as you could and once again it paid off and something good came up. The last phase was going back to the whole system to tweak and scrutinize the whole system for better cohesion.

Process Presentation "Rockport"

It was the first real research that I have done for a design project, everything before was working on preconceived ideas and developing them farther. I had never done a sophisticated research like starting from breaking down the brief to its basic elements and making the keyword list and moving on to the image research…etc
i don't recall referring to so many books before that project

most of the Rockports concept was developed in my car as I was driving,

as well as th
e shower.

I would collect images at my computer or on my desk flipping through books and what not, but once I step away my brain would start thinking of how would my final product look like considering the data I have found so far… how can I make a connection between some of those elements to communicate an idea. What was sorta cool for me in that project was that I was looking up doctors as people who could afford buying those expensive shows, and then here the inspiration comes when I come across a picture of a doctor looking at an X-Ray image (inspiration is everywhere). The big lesson that I learned was never let your creativity lead your research, let the research lead your creativity cause then your results are for more unexpected and thus effective.

Finally two heads are better than one and three are better than two, after I made the X-Ray, all Polly had to say was “I almost wanna see it moving” and that was exactly what was missing.

Process Presentation "The Readies"

The readies book was a great example of how any design process should go.

The structure of the project is practically starting from the basic elements of layout, and building up to sophisticated varieties of layout systems. I didn’t have to take the extra step in experimenting for The Readies book since it already mandated that on every student, though I took the extra step in making twice the required quantity just to find out how I would be solving problems after I have totally exhausted my options, I believe it is the only way of coming up with something interesting and maybe unique since we always fall back onto what we know in our first attempts.

I'm a night person... i'm most productive when there is no distraction.

Not knowing anything about typography set me free from getting scared of doing mistakes, it didn’t even exist in my head that there is wrong and right about typography and that’s why I just didn’t care for going wrong. Although I fail 8 times out of 10, I still try to approach my projects with the same virgin eye and mind.
